SUN CHANTS

1. My sun, my sun, my child and my eye,

I am your night, the tender shadow cloaking

the relentless you, who scare away all other dreaming.

My sun, my child, take away the bark of this skin,

and I promise to be your lantern, until the end of my sigh.

The blood is full

with grain, weed, and sun.

Something crumbles in the veins:

too slowly time moves

unleashed inside the flesh.

There is a desert-wind roaring inside.

And this tenderness that lasts so long

folds its palms before the kinder sky.

2. There is a sun inside,

a sun always vigil.

It knock on the gate,

and the gate vanishes.

The fence has vanished too.

The path does not lead anywhere,

the trees have lost their shadows.

Even the walls of the house timidly waver.

Here it is, it draws closer.

I stand and dream.

Each moment it sneaks further

taking away another doubt -

another faithful friend in the storm.

I dream with others.

Awake I am alone.

The eyes shut with difficulty:

for the sun raised its hand in command,

then I approach obediently.

It is hard to breathe

when even the air, too happy,

started for the gate.

Here is the sun, here is the storm.

The dreams ember.

I cease.

There is a sun inside.

A sun that never sleeps.

3. Sun, you awake a lake in my eyes,

you who have a love greater

than the treasure I can offer,

the boundless one, who traverse

humility and belief,

who blinds this flesh with love.

There is a sun within,

a sun always vigil.
